Ongoing Treaty Process

Currently, there are some ongoing treaty processes being conducted with the government and the Haida people. The most important one is land claims. This is because there is a lot of land that had been taken away from the Haida and never really returned in full. They deserve compensation and blankets or tools just won’t cut it. The government and the Haida people have been working hard in order to meet at the middle but nothing has come of it so far. The Haida have been awarded a few acres of land over the past years, but that isn’t clearly enough, comparing to the amount they lost. The Government is trying to come to piece with the Haida and they are trying to get a treaty signed. That treaty would consist of the right to the Haida’s land back and many more things. So basically, the Government and the Haida are working hard and hopefully sooner than later, they meet together on a solid ground and get a deal done.
